Discrete Assessments
We have extensive experience in the assessment of autism for children (minimum age 5), adolescents and adults. Our assessment is thorough as we believe it is important to give people the time they need to share their story and to ensure we can confidently form an accurate opinion.
The full assessment involves:
- Taking a detailed developmental history over two sessions (two hours)
- Completion of the gold standard in autism assessments, the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2) with a Psychologist and another allied health professional e.g. Nurse Therapist, Occupational Therapist or Speech and Language Therapist, as per NICE Guidelines
- Administration and scoring of questionnaires
- Review of relevant reports e.g. school reports, previous assessment reports
- Liaison with other services as appropriate e.g. school, other health professional
- Review information collated against diagnostic criteria (ICD-11)
- Provide two versions of written feedback report to allow more choice as to what to share with other professionals:
- a detailed one containing all information from assessment and recommendations
- an abbreviated version with information from the ADOS-2 and recommendations
- Feedback
