Founder of The Walden Clinic
Dr Aileen Ward
Principal Clinical Psychologist
Qualifications:
Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (D.Clin.Psy.)
Regulatory Body:
Health & Care Professions Council (Registration Number PYL23794)
Dr Ward qualified as a Clinical Psychologist in 2008. Since then she has worked in Glasgow in both Child and Adolescent, and Adult Mental Health Services, giving her expertise in working across the age range. One of the most important aspects of therapy is that you feel at ease in sharing parts of your life that you may find difficult to explore with your friends and family. This is why Dr Ward’s approach is one of kindness and compassion, where you, or your family member, will never feel judged or criticised.
Dr Ward has undertaken post-qualification training in Compassion Focussed Therapy, completing her advanced training with Dr Paul Gilbert, who developed the approach. She has completed training in the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, and has provided extensive supervision and consultation to other practitioners. She has completed training in Brief Strategic Therapy, which is an approach that can be particularly helpful to those experiencing Binge Eating Disorder, or who have issues that they would like to address in relation to their weight. She is also trained in providing Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), which is a model of therapy originally developed to work with post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), but which has an increasing evidence-base for addressing a number of other difficulties.
